TCK Rants #2 Topic: The expansion of RPs into other servers Disclaimer: All opinions here are thecoolkid26's, or mine. You can disagree with whats in this book. OK OK SO HOPFULLY YOU READ BOOK 1 CUZ SOME OF MY IDEAS THERE WILL BE IMPORTANT HERE ok so WHAT IF.. WHAT IF WE INTRODUCED RPS INTO ANOTHER SERVER? YEAH its crazy BUT HEAR ME OUTTT BEFORE I GET INTO THAT Here's a summary of what was in Rant #1 thats going to be important in this one - DF players prioritize speed over quality, because of how the server is structured. Fast paced RPs are scarce in Warlords outside of the Minigame RPs, but we saw them develop without our influence in the Civilizations Boom. Spectator games such as CookieQ's AFOWs can work in DF aswell. Here in Warlords, because of the style of our server, we can have our high quality games at the cost of the game's speed. WITH THAT SAID.. BACK TO THE QUESTION! WHAT IF WE BROUGHT RPS TO OTHER SERVERS Ok so, the first thing thats worth mentioning is that we have, as of this book's writing, only ONE attempt at this. (By other server I mean literally anywhere besides Warlords and DF that is multiplayer) We have an unnamed prototype game made by me, thecoolkid26, on Datearth. Thats a towny survival server, by the way. You can read the book for more information on it, but what happened was that it was a 2 player game, dylan34481, already a Warlords player, went up against Laestrygon98, a soon to be visitor of Warlords. The match was inconclusive, and was never played again. So, some important stuff from this game: Its possible to make a simple RP on survival. People (might) get interested in watching RPs Okay. Thats about it. So, here's what we know: DF system of the ideal RP game (Fast paced, quality plays little role in it) Warlords system of the ideal RP game (Any pace, high quality) And, that one game. So, before we even begin, we must ask ourselves - Why is it like this? Why are there two systems of enjoying RPs? I'll give a quick summary on that. In DiamondFire, you don't spend your day playing RPs or doing much related to it. The server works by you going around on plots to play on them. The only long-term projects would be when you're making a game of your own. As a result, long RPs don't work. A fraction of the people who played RPs during the Afterlife or Loria Booms actively returned to play games, because they enjoyed it that much. Most liked it, but weren't going to dedicate so much to one game. There's little incentive to return, either, besides playing the game itself. It's not like the idle games that keep you returning in order to make more money, or whatever. So, theres that. While, on Warlords, we constantly return to talk to each other or to play RPs, or make them. Other than play games outside the server or outside of MC altogether, there is little else to do. Plus, our constant communication has made sure we'd all stay together. It's not limited to small servers, either. For example, during both Kingdoms seasons that took place in DF, we had a small sub-community within DF that dedicated itself to playing on Kingdoms. Discord is a massive factor in this. So, now that we got that down, we can better assess any hypothetical server we'd enter, and see what people would want. FINALLY, LETS BEGIN!!!!!!!! 1. Literally any Creative server A lot of servers have these, and some are just even Creative servers. If you don't know what those are, it's just a game where you get your own plot of land in the infinite plots of the world, and make whatever the hell you want as long as it goes by the rules. These servers have had RPs as well, although not of the kind we play. It's those "CAMP ROLEPLAY" type things where you physically exist in the world and interact with other players. This server model would be, by far, the easiest server to spread RPs in. There is a large community (depending on the server), and surely somebody may find the concept interesting. So, this is a very probable candidate. For those of you who are familiar to DF, these servers are basically DF without coding. This is a huge impact - You don't spend so much of your time working on your plots, and rather more time visiting others. And while this is more anecdoctal, I have experienced that people in these communities form groups much easier than in DF. Both the Warlords and DF ideal RP model work here, because people can spend more of their time on people's plots. 2. Hypixel Housing This one is definitely less promising than #1, but hear me out. Hypixel, one of the largest servers on MC, does have a "creative" system that involves you having your own small world to build in. The immediate advantage here is "local chat" which only exists in some creative servers, and nonexistant in DF. This means that the chance for resistance against RPs is kept to a bare minimum, and is highly unlikely to ever happen. The advantages really end there. The limit on blocks and plot size (As Hypixel does need people to buy their ranks) means that it is much harder to set up a good RP on Hypixel Housing. However, if trying to reach to as many people and also keeping it secretive is the priority, then Hypixel Housing is an effective pick. Not to mention, TheZipCreator has a rank. He's already said he could help. Also, until we can bring people into the genre, I'd recommend using the DF style of RPs for Hypixel Housing. 3. Minehut Hypixel Housing, with less limitations, and more vanilla based. Minehut gives you a full world to build whatever you want, and instead of code like DF, you have command blocks, although features like plugins are required to be purchased with actual money. Minehut has a pretty big community, and RPs can definitely be expanded there, whether it is fast paced or slow. The problem then would be spreading the word - There is not much you can do to get people to listen to you among the others in the server. However, I personally am clueless on how minehut works, and others such as FrenchFryFan can answer that question far better than I can right now. IN ESSENCE RPs can exist in other servers if we do it right and perhaps people will listen to us! I only covered 3 of the much larger list of options out there, but thats the primary 3 I'd focus on. so, hopefully you foumd that interesting!! if you disagree, go tell me! I DO CARE abou your opinionS !!! and im glad to argue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! okkkkkkkk byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee -tck
